Pony UpTRAINERS "PONY-UP" TO HELP TRF
The Pony-Up Program is a one of TRF’s fundraising initiatives designed to spread the financial responsibilities of caring for retired racehorses across the racing industry. We ask horsemen and owners to donate only when they have reaped the benefits of a win, place or show. The average donation per win, place or show is $50.
Said Contessa: “I’m doing this because I think it is a great idea, a great program and the right thing to do. I firmly believe the industry needs to do everything it can to care for retired racehorses. I have several I care for on my own farm in upstate New York. If you don’t make sure they have a proper retirement, they wind up in the wrong place.” Pony Up’s leading owners in the program, John and Susan Moore, were recently featured in the Thoroughbred Times for their successful M & M Stables. The newest owners to join Pony Up are Pat and Craig Stickney. Other participants include Jimmy Jerkens, Lisa Lewis, Ken McPeek, Graham Motion, Charles Simon, William Entenmann, Howie Tesher, Tom Albertrani, Barclay Tagg and Brent Johnson. The TRF will continue to reach out to more trainers and owners to enlist them in a program that promises to be an important fundraising initiative. If you would like to sign up for PONY UP, contact the TRF at 518-226-0028 or email Diana Pikulski, Executive Director at Diana@trfinc.org. Recently Visited Categories |
