5K Run for the Horses a total success
by Fran LaBelle, Saratoga Springs, NY – Nearly 400 runners, a dozen former Thoroughbred racehorses and plenty of children and dogs added up to a fun-filled morning at the Spa State Park on Saturday, September 3 at the Seventh Annual 5K Run/Walk for the Horses.
Held to benefit the member organizations of Racehorse After Care Endeavors of Saratoga (RACES), the Run for the Horses attracted top runners as well as people just looking for a run or a stroll in the park.
Sixteen-year-old Clayton Orzel of Saratoga Springs was the overall winner with a time of 18:53.9, besting Brett Sullivan of Ballston Spa (19:13.6) and Jonathan Peck of Glenville (19:27.7).
