What is Giving Tuesday Now?
Overheard: “I feel like all the days are running together, but surely it can’t already be Thanksgiving. Isn’t that when Giving Tuesday usually happens?”
Answer: Yes. That’s the “normal” Giving Tuesday. It will be on December 1, 2020. Tomorrow, May 5th, is Giving Tuesday Now – a new & special global day of giving to address these strange and challenging times we live in.
According to the CEO of Giving Tuesday, Asha Curran “#GivingTuesdayNow is a chance for us to stand united and use grassroots generosity to show that we are all in this together, beginning to end. Even as many face financial uncertainty, generosity is not about size. Every act of kindness is not only a beacon of hope, it’s a critical act of civic and social solidarity.”
May 5th: A Day to Lift our Spirits with Grain & Ponies
At the TRF, we’re jumping in to the Giving Tuesday Now with two goals:
- #GrainGoals: To raise enough money in ONE DAY to pay for the grain our herd of 550 retired racehorses eats in ONE MONTH: $13,000. #GrainGoals
- #TRFPonyPower: To bring a smile to all our friends of the TRF Herd with a flood of drawings of ponies and horses across everyone’s social media feeds. Draw a picture and post #TRFPonyPower

Our hope is that this global day of unity and kindness might give us all a way to make an impact and bring some cheer – in whatever way feels best. Small gestures add up to big things.
