Did you know the average horse can live to be over 30 years old? That’s over 60 years old in human years. At a certain point in their life a thoroughbred racehorse can no longer compete on the track, and they may not be able to compete in a second athletic career.
This is when you may see advertisements for a “companion horse” or “free to good home only” on Facebook, Craigslist, and other social media venues. Where do those horses go? They may find a loving home with a family who takes care of them in their golden years, but for many, their fate is unpredictable and in jeopardy.
That is why it is so important to support, and why we are asking for your help, to care for our sanctuary horses. These retired thoroughbreds are going to be with us for the rest of their lives, which means they can call the TRF home for 20-30 years.
By becoming a monthly donor you are creating a sustainable financial foundation for the everyday care of these retired thoroughbreds. This is any recurring gift of $15 or more.
At the beginning of every month, you will get an email with the history of one of the horses you are supporting in sanctuary. Learn about where they were bred, who owned them, where they race and most importantly what are they doing now!
Learn about Coahoma, Swift Silver, Awol Soldier, Energy Center… and so many more!!!
