June 21, 2021: A message from the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation to the Churchill Downs Racing Club
We are honored to have a horse like Warrior’s Club as part of the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation herd. Like people, all horses are different, and some acclimate to retirement at a difference pace than others.Warrior’s Club has a big personality – he loves his people and we love him. At this point in his journey, he is telling us that he still needs a “job” while he learns how to be a retired racehorse. In order to provide him with the support he needs through this transition, we will be moving him to the TRF Second Chances Program at the Blackburn Correctional Complex in Lexington Kentucky where he will have the opportunity to transform the lives of the men in the Second Chances program while he learns the ropes of a quieter life off of the track.
We believe in the transformational power of horses and are excited to see the impact he can make in their lives. We – and Warrior’s Club – will be looking forward to arranging for you to visit him at Blackburn over the coming months and sharing the magic of the Second Chances program as visits become possible for vaccinated individuals. If you are not familiar with the TRF program at Blackburn, take a look at this 10 minute video – we’re sure you’ll be inspired.
